Interesting. When I'd contra dance, many, many years ago, it was de rigueur to wear the most unflattering clothes (18th century peasant-type cotton frocks, no makeup, for women, cargo pants and suspenders for men) and stare unrelentingly into your partner's eyes while you danced. And you *had* to change partners every dance. Wonder if these morés have changed.
